He asked me-- how to know who to trust, very early on. It wasn't an easy thing for him to give, but he gave it to me. I took care of him as much as I could, and I know he was trying to do the same, he-- he's the one who insisted on healing me.

And I've ended up repaying that by standing by and not being able to so much as give him a warning, and-- participating in something I never knew everything about.

[They never even tried. They didn't try to help Ichiro at all.]

[ Honestly, Otome's thoughts are a bit bewildered as she listens. ]

... Well, when I talked to him, he did say he was incredibly grateful for what happened, though it seems like I don't quite know the full story here?

They told me what the situation was, and what you were all trying to do-- enough for me to agree, but-- well, I don't even know who this 'source' of theirs was, actually.

And then they decided to frame Denji without saying a word to either of us. Ichiro told me he tried to ask why they'd done it, and that they just ignored the question and said nothing-- Otome, he thought he'd gotten Denji killed, lying about his item result that way. He thought it was all his fault.

[she is! pissed about it! they could have at least said they weren't able to explain.]

She's quiet for a moment as she processes that. To think it through, to try and understand what was going on in everyone's minds.

No real thoughts come through, just a lot of Processing. ]

I'm sorry, I can completely understand why you'd be upset. As far as I know, only Denji himself didn't need to know about being protected, so why they wouldn't think to share that or to at least say they had a plan, I... can't even imagine why that would happen.

I assume they thought it wasn't safe, or-- I very much hope that was the case, because I'd like to think they didn't keep it from us just to take it all upon themselves and leave us in the dark. Ichiro was the only one present for the decision who wasn't involved on Thursday, it was already difficult enough for him.

[she takes in a breath, exhales it steadily. god.]

...I really was afraid he would break. He was-- determined to take part this week, if we had continued, because then at least the blood on his hands would be literal.

... I hope he'll be able to... talk with them about this. And Denji.

[ She closes her eyes, looking pained. ]

I don't know how well that's going to go-- to be honest with you, I think it's a bit more on them to talk to him. He's the one they owe answers to about all of this.
