[it's the beep of her phone that wakes her up, but she is just... ignoring it. because she's curled up, sleepy and warm, tucked into one of the winter suite one rooms, nose pressed against otome's hair.
she makes a grouchy sound and kicks her phone off the bed before pulling otome closer with a sigh.]
[ her own phone is beeping and maybe that's part of the reason why Otome stirs, or maybe because Beau's pulled her closer and she's automatically snuggling in and leaving warm and drowsy kisses against her collarbone.
The beeping continues and she fumbles behind her to find her phone. ]
[ Otome sighs a little, letting herself just soak in for the comfort before she draws back and cups Beau's face in her palms. She affectionately brushes her thumbs over the skin. ]
... I'm glad you were the first thing I saw this morning. I'll be fine now.
[well, after the night before she's not quite as embarrassed about this sort of thing. she's a little flushed just because - well, sometimes she can't believe this is real. but she doesn't stutter, just tilts her face a bit into the touch.]
Yeah. Me too. [a beat, and then she laughs a little:] Stole my fuckin' line.
[ Not even a bit. She takes a moment, before she slowly lowers her hands. ]
... You know, when everything happened, where I... experienced some of what you and the others had dealt with, there was one part I didn't tell you about.
About a mysterious woman who knew far too much about me, and about a wish she was willing to grant me for a price.
She has a point to make here, but first she squeezes Beau's hand. ]
She saw right through me, honestly. That even though I wanted to save my world, to protect humanity, my true wish was that I just... didn't want to be alone.
I didn't end up taking her deal. I thought... that sort of thing was something I had to try and earn for myself or I wouldn't feel like I deserved it.
[ Otome is quiet for a minute, sorting through her thoughts. ]
But after everything-- killing Wang Lu, the trial, everything that happened with Adora and Catra, all the people who had been devastated by what I did, I thought maybe if I deserved anything, it was to be alone.
... But you wouldn't let me. I don't think you know just how much you've saved me, Beau. How much you still are.
[beau listens, curious - her expression is easy and relaxed, for the first time in weeks. the dorm heads are in trouble, and she knows when they roll out of bed, they're going to be both racing to find people, to make sure everything is ready for what comes. but right now, they're just... here. and it's nice.
and otome is telling her this, and beau just sort of... exhales, slow. smiles, bringing otome's hands up to kiss.]
... You don't deserve to be alone. [she says, quietly.] I feel like that's one of the worst fucking things you can do to a person. Isolate them.
... I'll have to accept that, I think. Unfortunately, we don't have time for me to win through distraction.
[ Time to try and do damage control again. She pulls back, a little regretfully, to get off the bed and start changing, though she pauses as she tugs on her coat and reaches into her pocket. ]
[ Beau is valid. It is her bed and her room and if she wants to stay naked and hot, that is her prerogative.
But Otome glances back at her with a faint smile and then walks back to press something in her hand.
It's a circle of little blue flowers, pretty clumsily tied together. And looking at it now, Otome looks a little... embarrassed. ]
I remember you helped me make a flower crown and I thought I wanted to return the favor, but I never was any good at it, and anything bigger than this just started looking disastrous, so a bracelet was all I could manage.
... Now that I see it after having slept properly, I think I might not have even managed that.
w7, monday morning
she makes a grouchy sound and kicks her phone off the bed before pulling otome closer with a sigh.]

The beeping continues and she fumbles behind her to find her phone. ]
Yours is going off too...?
[ she sounds so groggy. ]
no subject
S'not important, probably. [it really is, but she doesn't want to face it yet.]
no subject
[ it's said a little chidingly, followed by a yawn. ]
We should check.
no subject
she actually probably got a really good night's sleep, honestly.]
no subject
But also she slept great and she leans over to kiss Beau's forehead before she reaches back to grab her phone.
Two seconds later, she goes pale, staring at the screen. ]
no subject
but when otome goes quiet, beau blinks her eyes back open to see what's up, and - the look on otome's face gets beau to sit up, a little alarmed.]
What's up?
no subject
Good morning! ]
no subject
there's a pause, as she watches this, and then just... quietly, she slips her arms around otome's waist and rests her head on her shoulder.]
... Shit.
no subject
I... was worried this might happen. I couldn't change their records, but even so...
no subject
[holds her a little tighter.] We gotta talk to everybody about this, I guess.

no, beau just - sort of sighs a little. she reaches and takes otome's hands instead, twining their fingers together.]
... Lucretia told me a bit about it, I think. Isharnai. [...] You didn't take her deal, did you?

... Thank you for letting me save you.
no subject
[ She gazes down at her hands, quietly. ]
I should be the one thanking you, for everything.
no subject
[she leans to press a kiss to otome's nose.]
So let's skip that. Just say, maybe, that we both have done a lot for each other.

[ Time to try and do damage control again. She pulls back, a little regretfully, to get off the bed and start changing, though she pauses as she tugs on her coat and reaches into her pocket. ]
Oh, one more thing.

What?
